‘Raglan’ now showing on AFI TV

Our Australian Film Commission funded short film, having finished its exclusive festival run around the shores of the Black Sea, is now playing on AFI TV.

Sinead’s defining story throughout her isolated childhood in a remote fishing village is that of her brother – swept away into the sea at birth where he now lives inside a magnificent fish, travelling the world and having incredible adventures. Her search for him will bring her to the desperate truth and her father to an inevitable confrontation.
‘Raglan’ is a simply told tale with many layers. It is about childhood imagination and loss of innocence but also touches on dealing with grief and the complexity of the most all pervading of relationships – that between parent and child.

This film was a labour of love, completed around all the commercial gigs, over a lengthy production process.

Finding My Magic with Cathy Freeman

We just finished production on Finding My Magic – Children’s Rights Series  for Eve Ash Pty Ltd and Save The Children Australia – a 12 part series featuring Catherine Murch (aka Cathy Freeman OAM). The series follows a young Catherine and her friends through tales of challenge and resilience as they  find ways of handling the roller coaster of being a child, yet at the same time learning about their rights and responsibilities.

The series, developed by psychologist Eve Ash, for Save the Children was produced for the educational market to help primary children aged 4-11 build their communication, problem- solving and assertiveness skills – helping them become caring, responsible and respectful individuals. It follows the highly successful 4-episode Finding My Magic – Introductory Series we produced with Eve in 2010 which has now won 8 international awards and has been a finalist and selected for numerous international festivals. Seven Dimensions is the distributor.

Cathy Freeman voiced her own character, and was very involved throughout the development, so we even got to meet her rather than just work with the voice recording.

Steamfish took on the production including character design and scripting. The original series of 4 episodes had only 4 characters. The latest series of 12 episodes had over 20 characters!

The series, was completely produced in Flash with post production and editing at Seven Dimensions and PostMa Productions providing sound design.

Coming soon to a primary school near you!
Some of the proceeds from this project go the  Cathy Freeman Foundation which made us even happier to be involved.
